Planning a renovation? Did you know that most homes built before 1991 contain asbestos? Asbestos can be found in drywall mud, flooring, textured ceilings, vermiculite insulation and more.

“Asbestos was used commonly as a fire retardant,” explains Roy Piper, of Home SOULutions Remediation Ltd. “It also provided insulation, soundproofing and helped to bind materials together. It is now referred to as ‘the hidden killer.’”

Asbestos fibres are too small to see with the naked eye. The only way to be sure if asbestos is present is to have the materials tested by a professional.

“We care about the safety of workers and the health of homeowners,” says Piper. “Together, the Home SOULutions crew possesses 11 years of asbestos abatement experience, coupled with industry-specific certifications and training.”
